How would you like to be more successful? There is an easy process that can create immediate results if you will allow it to happen. It takes consistency, focus and a little effort, but is easy to learn and easy to do.

In our society most people are looking for ways to improve their life, their financial position, up-level their career or get the next bigger, better, faster thing, right? Like get a bigger house, a new car, release weight and have a better body, build better relationships, get a better job and more money….the list goes on and on. Yet we always wonder how we are going to do it and how others seem so successful in it. So, How do we do that? “How to be more successful immediately” is easier than you might think and is incredible in the results department if you will follow the three steps consistently.

In the picture below, I am Celebrating an Accomplishment. I completed a rigorous hike and was at the top of a mountain and quite exhilarated at how I had accomplished the climb and made it to my goal. It was exciting and felt good! I had been on a journey of improving my health and had been quite successful at becoming what I wanted. I was having success! You can see the happiness in my face, even though I am sweaty, tired and exhausted. Yet the first thing I did as I topped that climb was thrust my arms in the air, yell out in celebration at the top of my lungs and cheer myself on! It was AWESOME! How many times do we do this when we are completing a big accomplishment?

What can we learn from this? When we celebrate our accomplishments and completely acknowledge them, they give us power and it puts us in Accomplishment Mentality. It creates a mindset of I can do hard things. It moves us to want to do more. It empowers us to see more of the positive and more of our accomplishments rather than our failures or our shortcomings. This is something that we deserve to do on a regular basis.

When we totally embrace this, it becomes almost like second nature to us to celebrate our wins and recognize our accomplishments. This done consistently will create a flow of success and will raise your confidence, it will raise your ability to see the good and recognize your gifts and your talents. It will drive you to want to succeed and follow through with your vision board or your goals that you set and be able to see the positive outcome!

What do you think happens when we overlook doing this and forget to celebrate it or write it down or even acknowledge it?

Funny you should ask….I have a couple raw and real stories about myself that happened not too long ago. In my business, I have a Virtual Assistant that works for me. She has worked for me for over five years. We have not only become close in our business association, but have become amazing friends. We were having a phone conversation together and I had been stating some frustrations that I was having in my business and the lack of momentum I felt and how hard it felt and such. (Seriously, not what is usually going on, but I had allowed overwhelm and frustration get the best of me.) We began to discuss why things had been crazy and all that was on my plate. This played a big part in the discussion as I had a lot going on. To get the real picture, you MUST know some of what was on my plate and what I was talking to her about…

My mother is almost 78 years old and had complete hip replacement. My dad passed away 18 months ago, so I was her caretaker to take her to the hospital and then take her home and stay for several days and nights to assist her in the healing process and helping her get back to being able to stay on her own. I had a family vacation for five days, and this is one of the things that I live for! My Son was having his WEDDING a few days after the family trip together and we had out of state family that came with him and his finance’ to stay for several days before the wedding. Also, to add a bit of stress to this, my son had requested that I wear his favorite dress at his wedding. It had been worn on two other occasions, but was his favorite and was the exact colors of the wedding and there was only one problem…IT DID NOT FIT, and not because it was to big, it was because I was too big! Add to this that I have been working on a healthier body for two years with almost no success as far as weight loss etc. So the whole diet and exercise thing had been in full swing many times, and this time it was a new and different eating plan. Much different and takes more time and prep. Just a bit of extra stress right before big events, right? Finally, three days after the wedding my husband and I took off for five days to Lake Powell as a little get away and stress reliever.

I am sure you can kind of imagine how this looked at this point with a time frame of less than four weeks. Not only was this a wedding, but it was what I have affectionately called “Our Big Fat Gay Wedding” (which for us was a different kind of wedding than we had imagined for our son for most of his life, but we were completely pushing forward in unconditional love, family and unity with happiness abounding on this day of joy!) All of this and much more going on and more as we were also running two corporations and everything else. So, in this conversation with my assistant, she asked how the wedding went and if my dress fit? I am rambling off details from the wedding and happened to say something like: “We pulled it off. It was beautiful. We were full of happiness and love. I dropped 26 pounds and fit into my dress, danced down the isle and we pushed through it all.” She said, “What? Wait! What did you say?” I repeated, “We pushed through it all!” She was like, “NO…the other part!”. I said, “I danced down the isle like Blake & Tim wanted?” She was like, “The part where you have released 26 POUNDS!”

Can you believe I had gotten so focused on overwhelm and frustration that I had forgotten to do what I teach all the time? I had not celebrated my success. I had not written it down. I had not acknowledged it to the point that it lived for me in complete Accomplishment Mentality! I was doing myself a huge disservice!

The three things that you get to do to stay in Accomplishment Mentality are:

  • Write it down
  • Acknowledge it
  • Celebrate it

You have all heard of “Mindset” or “Get your head in the game” or “Get your head on straight!” These all have to do with wrapping your mind around the positive that you are creating and putting the focus on what you want to have happen. When we will do this, it will allow us to be in Accomplishment Mentality and will give us the success we want.

“Celebrating all accomplishments, both Big and Small, will always lead us to more accomplishments and allow is to stay in Accomplishment Mentality!” ~Kris Barney

Here is another quick story for you that just happened last weekend. My husband and I have been so busy that we have not had time to even pay attention to our yard, let alone spend time in it. Since we had gotten through the last four crazy weeks and had returned home from Lake Powell, we decided that we could spend a bit of time in our yard to trim trees and do the “fire prevention” that needs to take place since we live in the mountains and wild fires can come through our area.

Needless to say, many hours were spent both by my husband and me. We created it to become our focus and found time to put some action behind our goal and we were able to accomplish a ton! (Like one of the piles of tree limbs to be chopped up by the fire department was forty feet long and six feet high.) Both of us were very sore, tired beyond belief after a very strenuous week of our businesses and also many hours in the yard. Yet, with this particular accomplishment you could find both of us looking out across our few acres and saying things like, “It looks so much better.” Or “It feels so good to have it done.” I even watched my husband as he walked by a window stop and say, “Man that looks good!” This is a totally different thing than what I had done just the week before! We both were acknowledging our accomplishment and seeing the progress and in turn we both wanted to do more each day to continue that feeling. That is how simple this can be. It can be an amazing shift in your life when you will allow it to be!
